Is it normal that one of the memory banks always shows 2 MB less memory than your RAM indicates?
It is bank 0 (I think that's what is called, i.e., the one that must have a stick of RAM in it). Dell tech support claims that the video always requires 2 MB from your RAM, even though the Vostro 1400 comes with a video card with 128 MB of memory onboard. I just got the Vostro a couple of weeks ago. If it is something wrong with the laptop, I want to return it before the 30 days return period runs.
Appreciate your comments and help.
