Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW LCD Panel

Aug 18, 2005 12:12PM PDT

I bought a Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW LCD Panel with the intent of connecting XBOX and next gen XBOX 360/ps3 (when it comes in the market) to play 480p, 720p 1080i/p resolution supported games. I easily connected the Xbox component video from the receiver to the LCD panel, but the resolution was poor. later i come to know this monitor is not HD ready.

please somebody help me. how can i make this monitor support HD resolutions (480p, 720p, 1080p/i). is there any device to like hdtv tuner to connect my xbox to get best picture quality on my lcd.

please note i'm only intereseted to plays games on this monitor, not watch tv.

please help...

Ok, this is a computer monitor, it will also do video.
What is the resolution of the X-box? Dose it have settings?
" Xbox component video from the receiver to the LCD"
How is the Xbox connected to the reciver??? What a video cable?? If so the standard video is 320x240.
Try using S-video or composit directly to the LCD and see what that looks like.
Probably getting a HDTV LCD would have been a better choice. John

dear john

this is a pc lcd monitor. this monitor support max resolution 1920 x 1200, which is equal to 1080p. on the pc the image quality is awesome. but on external device like Xbox and external DVD player the image quality is poor.

this monitor have bellow video inputs:

Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW LCD Panel
Video Input
=============
Digital video standard Digital Visual Interface (DVI)
Analog video signal RGB, S-Video, Component video, Composite video

for monitor spec see bellow link:

Xbox is tv video game system from Microsoft. Xbox does support hd component(480p, 720p, 1080i) video output.

before i was in impression that this monitor can handle hd resolution. but later i come to know, it can't. i already try component, s-video, composite but result is worse image quality.

therefore now i'm looking for some kind of external device through which i can connect my DVD player and Xbox to get hd resolution directly into this monitor to get best image quality.

i read some information about HDTV tuners they can convert signals to HD resolutions. can i hook my Xbox into hdtv tuner to get best picture in my pc monitor???

or there is any other solution to do this task??

thank you.

Dave
