I bought a Dell precision M6500 laptop - the best in their range at the time. I also opted for all of the upgrades including twin hard drives with a RAID configuration for a mirrorred, real-time back-up. I also paid extra for next day, on-site support. Long story short: I had 4-5 hard drives replaced, 3-4 motherboards, 2 graphics cards, the screen and some other bits and pieces within the frist two years. The next day support is a joke too. Currently (third or fourth time I've had serious issues) I'm over 4 weeks without a resolution to my problems and not only that but they made the problem significantly worse. While one of the hard drives failed (again), the first was still operational. However, I obviously got on the Dell to get the second replaced "next day" as I was now without the wonderful mirrorred real-time back-up that they sold me. Three weeks later, a Dell engineer finally comes to replace my failed backup hard-drive and instead of fixing it, corrupts the only remaining functional hard drive!!
Now they are telling me that they will not either take responsibility for recovering the data they lost nor will they even approve a refund for my laptop!!
They are a disgrace in my opinion and I would stay well clear of them. They are are a very different organisation now to what they once were.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 7110 laptop online. The mouse pad did not work right. When put in sleep mode, the computer would not come back up. Sometimes I had to take out the battery and unplug it to turn the computer off. Then I lost access to networking and then audio. After 4.5 hours off and on with a technician who belittled me and refused to let me tell him about all the problems, he sent out a technician with a network card. The technician worked 1.5 hours to fix the laptop. He tried to tell Dell about the problems. They told him to tell me to call back for software support. I was on hold over 2 hours, being passed from person to person. Twice, the call was dropped. Finally a great person came on and assured me he would help. He is sending a technician with a new motherboard, hard drive and network card. I am terrified the laptop will fail again. Is anyone experiencing similar?
