Dell Studio Pc upgrade

Sep 16, 2009 12:12PM PDT

I am trying to configure a Dell Studio Desktop to purchase.

I want to change the processor to:
Intel core 2 quad q8300

And change the video card to:
Nvidia GE Force gts 240 1024 mb

All the other hardware would remain stock

This computers spec indicate that the power supply is 350 watts

My concern is the power supply sufficient to run the above upgraded hardware

If not how do I go about having dell change to a recommend power supply

I was hoping you would address this question:

My concern is the power supply sufficient to run the above upgraded hardware ?

Then I would have a base info to use when calling Dell.

If you are adding it later then the stock power supply usually needs an upgrade. If you are getting via the configurator then Dell has been 99% of the time correct.

Why isn't calling it in an option? I do not work for Dell. And I haven't seen the Dell people drop in the forum for awhile.

That was the answer I was looking for to verify info from Dell and Dell forum.

Could of save yourself a message if you would of answered in the first reply.

I know you do not work for Dell but as you answer questions everywhere in cnet I thought you would give me a good answer.

You are right no dell personnel on this forum.

I was left to guess if the upgrades were coming from Dell or other. That's why I had to guess.
