Dell Studio Lap to HP printer - How

Sep 15, 2009 11:56PM PDT

I have Vista desktop hardwired to HP D4360 printer. Also have Linksys router wireless system. I heard something about a printer server which I could plug into the router so I can use my Dell vista laptop with printer. Explain printer server, will this work, how much, etc. Advise and thanks in advance. Dave

wireless printer

You need a wireless printer for that, but you can still use your wired HP printer connected to the desktop. Just allow other computers to Share the printer and install the printer drivers on your new computer. Then select Add a Printer and select Network printer. You need to have your home network setup properly. Use the Network and Sharing Center on the Vista computers to set up sharing and to read the help files. Your desktop & printer will have to be on to use the printer from another computer and also to set it up.

Mig63: Thank you for getting back to me. Sounds complicated and you don't mention printer server? I'll try and figure it out. Evidently I need drivers for my Dell laptop, right? Thanks again, Dave
