Jul 14, 2009 7:11PM PDT

Hi Everybody,

I wish to purchase a laptop based on centrino 2 platform. I have shortlisted 3 options Dell Studio 15 or VAIO CS VGN-CS36GJ/Q or HP Pavilion DV6 1154tx

All of them are now available in indian market.

I am not sure which will be better overall, in term of heavy duty apps like 3D Studio Max / games like Doom 3, AOE III and future servicability

Please suggest which is the best, or any other laptop better then these with same config with similar price.

Following are the details :

dude I was in the same situation like you for a few weeks ....but only between the dell studio 15 and the hp dv6 1154tx....at last I got the hp dv6 yesterday for 64500 Rs,including a hp backpackHappy. I really wanted to get the dell coz its customizable and all but the only thing that was holding me back was the graphic card ,the ati 4570 is not a bad card ,but when compared to the ati 4650 on the hp its quite a low end card .I mainly wanted to play games(GTA IV, COD4 etc), so the graphic card was of great importance for me, I don't know whether studio 15 can play GTA IV or not,but it can play Doom 3, AOE III i'm quite sure of that. and look wise the hp looks gorgeous while the dell is quite plain. so it all boils down to what you want to do with your lap. hope this helped you, let me know what you're gettinHappy
P.S(the sony VAIO CS - VGN-CS36GJ/Q has a weak graphic card compared to the dell or hp)

Choosing the right laptop hp or dell
Jul 21, 2009 2:29AM PDT

Hi,
I have been debating between Dell studio 15 and HP Dv6-1154tx like many other people. Even I had been to see the laptops today. I have a overall bias towards HP but there are three issues that I thought I should bring out.
1. Vista 32 bit OS does not recognise more than 3GB RAM where as this laptop has 4GB of RAM. The US website of HP recommends 64 bit OS for 4GB RAM.
2. There are no recovery CDs/DVDs which should have been a part of the deal.
3. Vista OS is entitled for free upgrade to OS 7. But there is no mention about this in HP deal.

Do post ur opinion and of course the details about where it is available for Rs 54500/- with a laptop bag.

review of my hp dv6 1154tx
Jul 24, 2009 3:24AM PDT

its been one week since I got my lap ,and i'm more than happy...I installed GTA IV and it runs smoothly even at high settings (1366*768 resolution) the temperature was normal even after using it for six hours ....but it can get quite hot while gaming, the battery life is around 2 hours when in power saver mode. yes there is one negative factor that is the 32 bit vista insted of the 64 bit...but for most applications 3 gb of ram is more than sufficent , and about the OS discs hp lets you make your own recovery discs so it doesn't really matter....i'm typing this post on the dv6 and i'm using the tata photon whiz ,which one gets as an offer from hp for 700Rs(its not really fast but its more than enough for casual browsing)....and yes I got my dv6 for 64500Rs(including tax) and also a hp backpack for free ,I bought it from coimbatore.....hope this helps .......
