This is often YOUR CHOICE when you configure the machine. Since it's a competitive market and most consumers look at the price first the battery run times often move to 2 hours or less as they cut the battery size and cost.
The run time is strictly your choice as you add the bigger battery back in.

My dilemma is I want battery life and some gaming capabilities as well.
I am considering the dell studio 14znotebook for college. its new, so not many reviews out there. I like the good size 14in (900p)screen. I customized it to the 2.0 core 2 due processor. it has 3gb ddr3 ram. 250gb HDD. nvidia 9400. 8 cell battery. NO DVD drive however. (but may buy external) wireless n and back lit keyboard. When done customizing it it came up to $839.
So u think this fits the bill of portability, decent battery, and decent gaming? Any other notebook suggestions?
