Question

Dell Studio 1458 Battery

May 23, 2012 5:17AM PDT

Hi All,
I have a Dell Studio 1458, I am not able to use it with the battery plugged in, it only run's without the battery while using the power adapter.

If I power-up the system fully and plug in the battery the system instantly shut's down.

I purchased a new battery from Dell with the same issue, any ideas?

Thanks.

There are only 2 more parts to change out. Charger and motherboard.

Did that.

I tried a new charger same issue.

The weird part is, if the computer is on via the charger and I plug in the battery it immediately shuts down.

If I try to turn on the computer with the battery and charger plugged in it wont turn on.

Thanks.

Ouch.

Plugging in the battery when the power is on is not something supported in almost all laptops. Could blow something up. That something is on the motherboard.
