....Now that I have your attention (gee I hope this thread doesn't get locked), I am planning to build a computer and spend around $1500-1600 (but more in the range of $1500). Anyway so far this is what I've got:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz ($231)
Corsair Value Select PC3200 DDR400 Kit 2x512MB ($107)
Maxtor 200GB SATA/150 ($96)
Sony DW-Q28A ($44)
Asus A8V-E SE Socket 939 VIA K8T890 ($91)
Asus EAX800/2DTV Radeon X800 256MB PCI-e ($219)
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS OEM ($67)
Kingwin MTX425SW Mutant X Mid Tower Case ($72)
BenQ FP91G+ ($363)
Logitech X-530 ($61)
Microsoft Windows XP Home ($100)
Logitech Office Pro Black Keyboard OEM ($11)
Logitech USB / PS2 Wheel Mouse Optical ($10)

Now the total is well within my price range, but i've got about an extra $150 left over, so what should it be spent on upgrading in this package?

i would get a junker processor...amd athlon 3000 or 3200 to reduce cost

get a hard drive from a different maker such as seagate or western digital
get a different mobo one dat is nforce 4
get a different gfx card as current ati cards lack sm3 and fp32 suggest getting vanilla 6800 or 6600gt to meet ur budget

r u planning to use the heatsink/fan dat comes with the cpu? would recommend against that and buying a good heatsink and fan. also add in a tube of artic silver thermal paste

hmm i also dont find a reason you might need the sound blaster audigy

and stop trying to lure people with ur out of place titles...

hmm where are u buying these parts from as the prices seems kinda high....

The only thing missing in your specs was the PSU size. Make sure you get a GOOD 450w PSU.
Also most just say "Need help with a PC buld" and will lots of help. John

...I didn't think it would cause such a fuss. Well in any case is it necessary for me to upgrade to windows pro? And i'm thinking I might upgrade the video card to a 6800 or more likely a 6600 gt. Thanks for the help guys, if you've got any other suggestions then keep em coming cause it's gonna be another week or so before I finalize my decision. Oh and i'm getting the parts from Canada Computers, the prices might be off by a bit cause I had to convert them from canadian prices to american for all you americans.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
