Dell PC System Restore

When I purchased my computer from Dell, it had a System Restore program pre-installed. I immediately contracted a virus and had to reinstall my XP system, which apparently whiped out the System Restore, although my computer states it is still there -- and I can start the system restore but get no results. Is there a way to resinstall the Dell PS System Restore or purchse the program so that I can reinstall it myself?
I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with an XP Operating System. I also have the option of installing Vista.

Dell System Restore

I talked with Dell when this first happened and was told that I could not use the complete restore feature to wipe out the virus. I later learned that this was in error. Further, they told me that I could not reinstall the restore system. Frankly, I do not trust anything some foreiner in a far away land might tell me concerning correcting a problem, for I have been misinformed at least half the time I've tried to correct some problem. However, I will try them again. Maybe they will sell me the program. Thanks for your suggestion.

That appears to be true.

About restoring the complete restore feature. That may be something only Dell can do at their factory. I have not heard of anyone selling that program. Only the restore media which is a lot cheaper than the alternative.
