Hi,
Good day! Will you smell the odor right away when you use the computer? If the monitor is working properly possible that heat is just coming off from the components.
Is your monitor under warranty? Let me know if further help is needed.
Regards,
I work as an electronic test technician for a defense contractor so I know what it smells like when a cap or resistor blows or especially when a transformer fails and burns. Well my monitor started giving off a similar odor when I boot my computer. Everything works fine, but every so often -- more often lately -- I get that blown capacitor smell. I thought it was my computer, but my nose tracked it down to the air vents on top and behind my monitor.
I keep my monitor on 24/7, but not the computer. Any ideas? Has anyone else smelled the same? I'm considering taking the back cover off and removing all the dust that I assume is causing the hot electronics smell. Does anyone else have any ideas?
