However laptops if they suffer a hardware failure need replacement parts. Since it doesn't power up, you would likely exchange the mainboard and see if that fixed it.

This past weekend, my laptop froze up on me and so I pushed the power button to power it down. I waited a few minutes and then rebooted. It came to the screen about checking the drive, but I just hit enter to get back to work. Well it powered, but when it got to the WINDOWS2000 screen, the display showed all different colors. Again, I powered it down by the power button. I tried it again and it would get to the WINDOWS2000 screen and just sit there. After taking out the battery and pulling the power cord, I again let it rest. I tried it one more time and it would only get to the DELL screen. Now, I can't get it to even power up. Any ideas or suggestions? Dell Latitude C640 running Windows 2000 Pro. Thanks in advance.
