Installing such has some prerequisites such as the motherboard drivers. And if Dell changes motherboards they will have to reveal what drivers to use. I can't guess for them.
Bob
I have a working Dell D630. It had the NVIDIA issue and a Dell auth repair made under warranty. I thought it was fine but then I noted it wouldn't run certain programs due to video driver issues. The Device Manager says I have a standard VGA driver, working properly.
The BIOS says Quatro 140M 128mb vid mem (It had the 130M originally). It does have 1280 x 800 resolution, just wont handle direct x (those drivers are present)
I have tried to change the video drivers to those found on the Dell site (140M and 130M) for Vista Prof. (correctly updated) to no avail. Error messages say I do not have the hardware to use the drivers or I have VGA drivers working correctly. I dont want to reformat the whole thing to factory state, if possible. NVIDIA site also confimrs Quadro140M, but won't allow a download, saying use OEM. Any ideas
