Dell Laptop optical drive will not accept disks

This only happened recently, and at the same time it started I noticed my battery light is blinking red 3 times then going back to blue.

I'm using a Dell XPS M1530, since I'm sure it matters.

1. CD/DVD lens cleaning (see google)
2. VISTA CODE 39 (see google)
3. Try a new drive. Cheap fix but you can imagine that it's fun to see how many owners will spend 160 bucks at a service counter to be sure.
