Did you recently re-install the operating system or repair it?
I saw the one for CD-RW/DVD SN-308B. Maybe you'll have to enter your service tag or maybe there is a disk that you have for the other one. Drivers and Utilities disk?
If so, please download the drivers and install them in this order from here
Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software
Chipset or SMBus driver
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
I am hoping someone can help me troubleshoot my problem. My Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop is not recognizing either CD drive. It has a Samsung CD-RW/DVD SN-308B drive and a Dell 24x CD-ROM that is apparently an LG CRN-8245B drive.
Neither drive is recognized in My Computer or any software, although they both worked fine until recently. I went into the Device Manager and tried updating the drivers, but it said I had the best driver versions already. I uninstalled both drives in the Device Manager. I then restarted the computer. The computer found new hardware upon restart - both drives. It automatically installed the drivers, but then it won't recognize either drive again.
Both drives show up in the Device Manager, but they have yellow warning "!" signs on them. I am getting this messages under each device properties:
"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
Troubleshoot doesn't do anything except tell me that I need to look elsewhere for help, so.....here I am.
Can anyone give me any idea(s) on what to do next please? I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.
Oh, one more unusual thing....the Samsung CD/DVD drive has recently begun making occassional clicking noises. It's like it's looking for a disc even though no disc is in the drive. I don't remember it doing that before. Don't know if that is weird or not, but thought I'd mention it.
Have a great day!
