Dell Laptop need device ownership password to use Wi-Fi

I purchased a Motorola SURFboard SBG 6580 when trying to connect to the Wi-Fi my dell laptop is asking for a device ownership password. Called Dell they were no help. Does someone have a work around? Dell Inspiron E 1450 with Windows XP. Thank you

I've been working on this for days especially with Dell (mostly on hold) not to mention the difficulty in understanding the tech. Thanks again I appreciate it.
