Did you to dell.com, enter in the service tag and install the drivers in the usual order of OS, CHIPSET, MS UAA (see google) and then the audio drivers?
Now Dell might have more utilities but reading your post it looks like you are going elsewhere than Dell.
About those CARDS in a laptop. Sounds very expensive. 99% of the laptops have one board with everything on it. Since we can't use cards like in desktops, making these into cards that only fit that laptop sounds like a great way to inflate the costs.
The sound in laptop is gone. I downloaded the sigmap-tel driver to update the driver I have purchased Dell in 2007. It has 1Gb Ram, Hard drive 15.6 screen etc. Could someone please tell me exactly where I should copy or download this updated file to see if I am able to get any sound back. The audio jack on right side no longer has any sound when plugging in external headphones. I am hoping that I downloaded the right driver. I was told that this model has a audio card on the mothefboard, no seperate audio card. Appreciate any help you offer so I can fix this problem. I don't really want to pay a few hundred dollars to try and fix thid annoying problem. My last re-course would be to buy another laptop hopefully with a separate sound and video card.
Thank you so much
