Question

Dell inspiron with 8 beeps

Feb 24, 2015 3:54AM PST

Hi
I have a dell inspiron which has 8 beeps and the lcd is not lighting.
I tryed the D+power button method and worked for twoo days. After I changed the lcd cable but nothing.

My friend has the same laptop so I asked hi's mother board and with the new motherboard is working.

Do I have a chance to repair the motherboard? or I need to buy a new one?

Did you measure or replace the cmos battery? Techs measure, the rest of us just pop in a new one. Not guaranteed to fix it but the clue is there that it could be the usual.

Hi

Hi,

I replaced the cmos battery. Before that when I turned on the laptop it was 8 beep, no lcd but in the backround I could hear that the laptop is booting and is going to Windows.
Now after replacment when I turning on No beeps but no boots as well. I can hear the hdd or the fan for 2 sec and after that quiet an no lcd

Today somebody give me an other motherboard and I tryed that one as well. It was good just the cpu started to overheat. When it riched the 67 Celsius the lcd started to flash and it went to sleeping mode. I tryed with my cpu and got the same issue. I cleared the fan I used thermal paste to the cpu but still overheating in 2 mins.

I am really unlucky with this dell....

But given a new laptop runs about 250 (more or less) you don't see a lot of motherboards being replaced.
