Resolved Question

Dell Inspiron RAM

Mar 7, 2012 1:38AM PST

Dell Inspiron 1545
Windows 7
I'm looking to upgrade the RAM from the present 2GB.
There are two chips in the unit, I take it they are 1GB each. The only noticeable difference between the chips is the last serial number digit (one has a V, the other a W) and one has DIMM1 and the other DIMM2 on it.
The system spec states a 64 bit op system. A chap on Dell community says it will have the capacity for 64 bits but would have come with a 32 bit set up. That I find strange.
Two scans indicate that it can take up to 8GB RAM, so therefore it's a 64 bit system.
Could anyone please confirm one way or the other.?
