Question

Dell Inspiron One Freezes Intermittently

Nov 15, 2011 12:28AM PST

Bought new in August, Windows 7, 64-bit system. Hardly a day goes by that the computer doesn't completely freeze. Not even the nicety of the blue screen of death---just blank. Frozen. Inelegant shut-down. No commonality in tasks being done at the point of death. It's an annoyance when I'm in the midst of reading email. It's catastrophic when I'm in the midst of creating a work document.

Answer
Sounds like a warranty issue.

Why are you keeping this machine?

warranty issue?

Probably, although I'm fishing for some recognition by a knowledgeable party who says, "oh that's easy, do this." I'm my own computer support, so I am resisting doing the whole weeks-long setup gig on another new machine. Also, I'm literally hundreds of miles from the nearest service center. Mail off or personal return, I'm screwed timewise with no computer. Warranties are not a no-brainer fix for me.

We don't have this issue. If we do, the machine goes back. Well we do allow Dell to reload the OS but we don't keep the duds.
