Hi jjfader,
You have mentioned that the light on the AC Adapter goes out when you plug the AC Adapter to the computer. Is that correct? Do you see a light on the AC Adapter without plugging it in to the computer?
If the light goes off, then most likely the issue is with the motherboard and might have to be replaced.
However, this system comes with a separate DC-in port. You may try replacing the DC-in port first and check if the issue persists. Else, the motherboard might require replacement.
Please reply if you have any questions.
Thanks and Regards,
Appu S
I've had this Dell Inspiron for 2 years or so. The battery went out a few months ago and will not hold a charge whatsoever, but I could use it plugged in. Now I thought my adapter broke because I would plug it in and get no light showing it was plugged in (on the laptop). I bought a different adapter, but I have the same problem. I can't turn on my laptop at all. Does anyone have any tips or ideas that I could fix this?
