Dell Inspiron laptop: unmountable boot volume

Jun 4, 2007 2:09AM PDT

Ok, so i haven't installed any type of new hardware on my computer or anything. the last thing i installed was a trial version of soundforge, which i did over a week ago and it hasn't caused any problems. As of yesterday I turn on the computer and this is what I get:
A problems has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent further damage to your computer.
unmountable_boot_volume
if this is the first time you've seen this restart your computer if it appears again.... disable any new hardware or software. disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing your computer. press F8 to select advanced startup options, and select safemode.
tech info: *** STOP: 0x000000ED (0X825A6900, 0XC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

no idea what the heck that means! my laptop is a dell inspiron 6000. i've had it two years this august. its been running absolutely fine and i've never had any problems. i haven't installed any hardware. the last thing someone did on it was watch a dvd. if anyone knows anything PLEASE HELP!!!

btw- everytime i select safemode it takes me right back to this screen.
