Dell Inspiron 8600 Battery only lasting twenty Minutes

Ok first off for those thinking its cause its an old battery its not, I purchased a new one about two months ago so the battery is good... This all started happening about a few weeks ago when i upgraded my laptop to Vista Ultimate, and since then my battery's life will either last up to twenty minutes with me just watching a movie on power saver, or it will last 100 seconds when im just showing my mother a picture on the laptop with it on high performance (before you all get creeped out about the mom thing, i am in high school still) Does anyone have any ideas on why its draining so rapidly? When it was running off XP it was running perfect. Should i roll it back to XP instead? Please i need help soon because i have to go to texas soon. Thank you!

Ask dell....

Ask dell if they have a BATTERY CALIBRATION procedure. No, I didn't ask them for you.

Also, ask Dell what drivers you need for Vista. It's possible the Microsoft supplied drivers keep the CPU busy and draining your battery.

That's proper. here's why.

Most Dells came with 300 cycle batteries. So at 2 years you are well past the 300 cycles.
