Dell Inspiron 600m

Jan 17, 2005 2:33AM PST

I have a 3 month old Dell 600m. Have been having trouble accessing the internet and e-mail. I'm on a Linksys network that works with our other computers, but not this one. After nearly 4 hours on the telephone with a Dell technician, he said the only cure was to completely reinstall windows. This is a pretty drastic step. Do you believe this to be true? He said something in windows is corrupted. He wasn't very swift with his advice over that four hour period and in fact, after he finished having me mess with the router, I couldn't access the internet on any computer. So, my confidence in him is limited. (I was later able, on my own, to get the internet working on the other computers, which he wasn't able to do) If this is the only solution, I'll do it, but I would appreciate other guidance. I asked the Dell tech guy for an additional opinion, but he simply gave me his supervisor who said she agreed.
