Dell Inspiron 6000 - Is the Video Performance Weak?

Mar 20, 2005 12:18AM PST

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop that has a 15.4 inch UltraSharp WUXGA LCD Panel and a 128MB Radeon x300 graphics card. Unfortunately, when playing DVD's the picture appears to be very dark, grainy and pixelated. Is there any way to get a better picture or is this problem a result of having a video card that can't display a clear picture?

Some dvd player software, video driver setting (is it billions of colors?) or something else. The video performance is tiers above what's needed for DVD playback.

Here's a test. It could be the DVD. To test, go make a GEEXBOX boot CD and playback the DVD with that. Better, same or worse? This is not an offer to support you finding or creating GEEXBOX. You would look to google.com to find out more.

It's not your vid card...

I doubt it's your video card, because I have the same laptop with Intel Media Accelerator 900 integrated graphics (not as good as what you have) and it plays DVDs fine.
