Dell inspiron 6000

I recently ordered a dell inspiron 700, but i find the key board not too "user friendly", requires some effort to avoid typing errors. I intend to return it, and was thinking of buying a bigger laptop, inspiron 6000 has great reviews, but the only concern is again with the keyboard, that the keys are stiff or layout is not good. sicne there is no dell store in my state, there can be no hands-on experience.

I am hoping if anyone owns or has used one, to help me out here. The other computer i am seriously looking at is the compaq pressario v2000. any advice regarding choosing one or the other would be appreciated.
