Today's PB FREE (lead free) designs are more likely to die of solder joint fractures since the lead free solder is more brittle. This is why you see more and more mainboards being changed out. So much for reducing waste?
Ok, you may want to know that most laptops will power up and show a bios screen even if the hard drive, CD/DVD drives are removed. Test that by removing the drives.

Hi there, I am a newbie here and any help solving this particular problem would be apprecaited. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 unfortunately was dropped a day ago. Know it wont work, when you switch it on its pwer like turns on for one or two seconds and then repeats itself, never getting anywhere near post. I have tried removing the battery and checking it just with the power adaptor, but this has not made any difference at all . I was wondering could the hard drive or more likely the motherboard have been damaged when I dropped it ?Any suggestions would be appreciated.
