I had the luck to reinstall XP from scratch and found that XP only supported open and WEP protected networks. Later after SP3 and all the patches were reinstall and a new WiFi driver was installed then I could connect to WPA2 networks.
But the device password never showed up. Must be something new. But XP? You may want to get it up to SP3 and check if the driver supports WPA2.
I am having troubles after reinstalling XP on my Dell Inspiron 1520 The wi fi protected set up wizard is looking for a "device ownership password"". This never happened to me before, so I looked behind my router and found a simple numeric security pin. that did not seem to work. The screen will not allow letters so when I tried to put in my wep key it would not accept any letters typed in. I am stumped. Any help would be appreciated.
