1. Remove AC, battery, hold the power button for 1 minute, release, put battry, AC, wait 1 minute and re-try.
2. Replace the BIOS battery. No I will not supply the 20 names for this small battery in the laptop or duplicate the web pages on how to replace it on Dell's web site.
After that you are pretty much at the end of the easy cheap things to try.

I went to use my Dell laptop yesterday and it would not turn on, I decided to plus in the power still no effect. This is the first time this has happened, on Friday I dropped the laptop case containing the laptop at a very small height (40cm high) I havent used the laptop since dropping it but can't see how such a small drop would cause it to stop working, no lights etc come on when the power is plugged in, furthermore the power pack is making a very light buzzing sound, the lights etc are on the power pack, I have no idea if the power packs always made that sound becuase I had no reason to check, but im convinced its not that, any help much appreciated.
