Dell Dimension 2400, Windows XP,Intel Pentium 4,512MB

Hi Everyone,

Im new to this site and need a little help.I have the listed above plus, Nvidia Ge Force MX 4000 video card and a Sound Blaster Live 24 Bit. My problem is I enjoy Flight Simulators and have many. Some will work and others will not. They freeze up for a second or two and then continue on then freeze up again when I least expect it. My question is this : What do I need to buy to get the computer to play these games the right way? A Newer(lARGER)Processor, A better Video card or what I think, A larger hard drive ( I have 40GB )And a better video card? " ALL HELP WILL BE VERY THANKFUL "

" Thank You "

Get a better graphics card. Also a higher processor and 1GB of ram will definitely help. Fs2004 uses a lot of these. Running this on a P4 560 and 1GB DDR2-533 and X300SE that i've overclocked is allright, but still kind of laggy, but all options are highest, so if my machine can't handle it entirely smooth, then i can't think how it runs on yours. Either upgrade the processor, ram, or graphics card or lower the options. I also run X-Plane 8 and fs2002pro on it.

Your problem sounds like an overheating video card. Try cracking open the case and playing the game with it like that, see if things seem to work better. If so, look into ways to increase the air flow in your system. Unfortunately, since it's a Dell, your options are probably limited short of case mutilation. Still, there might be something you can do, so look into it.

There's also a chance it has to do with spyware, though you'd expect it to cause the game to crash more than lock up. Still, can't hurt to scan your system for any pests (spyware, trojans, viruses, worms, etc). Even if it's not your problem, still a good idea.
