How can a desktop run a modem?
What is a 'wifi modem'?
What is "networking two modems together"?
And, given the power consumption of a desktop (not too mention a monitor no-one is looking at), wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a modem?

I have a dinosaur of a desktop that no one uses, it's only purpose is to run the wifi modem. However, I was getting ready to attempt to network two wifi modems together to see if this would improve signal strength when I noticed the computer tower and monitor turned off by itself. It did this several times in a row before I gave up. How can I tell what the issue it? Would the wifi modem still work if the motherboard was fried? Could this be a reason for my weak wifi signal? Thanks in advance.
