Reset IE is on the web so I'll shortchange you on that.
As to the sound issue, there are volume controls, muted or not to try first. Also, if the speaker cable isn't plugged in the right jack it will not work. Many Dells have 5 or 6 such jacks.
If you give up, look up those 10 dollar and under USB sound cards on Amazon. Try the #1 seller first. It's under 10 and stands in when the internal sound system dies.
I have a Dell with Windows Vista and just recently I have had 2 big problems. First, I have lost my sound. When I turn the speakers on or off I can hear a "bump" sound, but I still have no sound. I have tried updates to no avail. When I go to the software on the computer, it says everything is ok.
The next problem is that when I try to use Windows Explorer to access the internet, I get a message that says "the web page cannot be displayed". However, with this page showing, I can go to my "Favorites" and access them. To go to other websites I have to go to Google Chrome.
Anyone have any ideas?
