Dell D610

What is the consensus on the D610? When I was checking out laptops awhile back, the 600m always looked like something that might suit me well, nice balance of performance, battery life, weight, etc. People used to say not so great things about it and now that I'm reading up on laptops today it looks like the D610 is a similar style, just much better. I'm an IS student, about to be a senior. Think its time to get a laptop sometime. Thinking I want something portable, medium size, decent performer, the cheaper the better. $1100ish might be ideal, but can go a couple hundred over if its really worth it.
