Dell, Compac, or Toshiba

Dec 5, 2004 12:21PM PST

I am still trying to deceide on a laptop. The Dell, Compac, and Toshiba are the 3 that I am looking at. I just need it for portability on my job and also something to use when we are out of town at the motel or hotel.
Are these 3 equal in quality? Something in a 15" screen and P4 speed. Any ideas or what works good for you. Thanks,Gary

I made a tight decision between a Compaq X1000 and a Dell Inspiron 8600. I chose the Dell because I got a good deal.

But both are desktop replacements. For something very portable, check out the HP/Compaq DV1000/V2000, which has a lighter weight and smaller screen.

That model has integrated video ram, so no gaming for you, but if you get the Pentium M 715 or above, you'll have P4 speed. Also it has a pretty nice 14.0" widsescreen.

check companys Lemon return policy
Feb 14, 2005 10:20PM PST

If you haven't already purchased your laptop I advise you to check the return policy of the company you are dealing with. I purchased a Toshiba that was a LEMON . I returned it to the Toshiba repair depot where it has now been for a month and will be for another 10 days ( maybe more ). I was told Toshiba does not replace the laptop, they fix them. Maybe they should add-- sometimes!

I buy a new notebook yearly. I would take a Toshiba hands down over Dell or Compaq.
