Dell Battery Recall

by tony10r10 / August 14, 2006 1:40 PM PDT

Here's a quick way to determine if the battery in your Dell Laptop is part of the massive recall. (mine was... I probably won't be able to sleep for the 20 DAYS they say it may take to receive the new battery.)

Go to:

Punch in the code from the barcode sticker on the battery. It will tell you if you are part of the recall and connect you to an order form if you are.

It was quick and painless. Now if I can just survive until the replacement comes in the mail.

They say they are sending a return package and instructions for the recalled battery. I presume this will be a standard mailer. Hmmmm.... thousands of potentially defective batteries being sent through the mail. Doesn't Homeland Security have enough to worry about?

I put my code in, and it says I don't have a defective battery. Mine was shipped just 2 weeks ago I might add, so yeah...

I like how the news remind us that the batteries were manufactured by Sony so you know, don't blame Dell!

So I guess that I can run my Inspiron 1705 and not worry (too much) about it blowing up and buring down my house.
