Dell 9200!?!?!

Oct 27, 2004 6:06AM PDT

I happened to be browsing through my techno favorites, when I came across a review on the new Dell 9200. Has anyone seen any more info on it? It looks pretty cool and it actually doesn't look like the other plain models that Dell makes. I believe it has a 17" screen and has a Pentium M processor. Sounds cool!

17" LCD models with a Pentium M processor are relatively rare (most 17" LCD's have a Pentium 4M and are heavy like the HPzd7000).

Sony has one but it is very expensive --$2500 or more.

I am not aware of this model but it will be interesting to see Cnet review this one.

The Apple Powerbook 17" is also over $2500 but weighs an amazing 6.9 pounds which is the same as the Dell 8600 Pentium M 15.4" widescreen model !!!!!

Wow Ken, your quick.

I just browsed Dell's website and confirmed. It is an Inspiron model and does have the Pentium M processor. It has many of the options that are available with the other models, including the 60 Gig 7200RPM HD and 128 MB, dedicated vid memory. As you mentioned, this model does appear to be a bit pricey. Prices start at about $2000.

It is possible that patience has paid off. I actually would be alot happier if it did not have the 17" screen due to weight and power draw - I am never happy.

Except for a few software glitches (too many free downloads from download.com!), this has been a great experience. Love the big, wide screen. Anyone else out there with comments on the 9200?
