Dell 3543 black screen and mouse cursor

Yesterday till morning everything was fine. At afternoon when i started my laptop, it got stuck on a black screen with cursor for atleast 30 minutes. After which it eventually loads up and starts working fine. Can someone help me fix it.

-> Be aware that Windows Update CAN DO THIS. If it's just once in a while my bet is your laptop has a HDD and those can be slow on updating.
