Question

Dell 1545 goes into sleep mode while typing

Nov 13, 2011 6:37AM PST

My 1545 goes into sleep mode while typing mostly on the left side of the keyboard. I have updated the bios and all the other drivers that were recommended. I am running Windows 7 OVER XP, lazy I know. Is it possible that this could be the problem? Of course Windows 7 was installed months ago and this problem just started. Interesting to note that while typing this post it didn't snore out on me once! So could it be software specific? Thanks in advance for any help.

What I'm encountering is

I read where Windows 7 was installed but here's what I'm encountering. Incomplete installs with missed drivers or worse, to a machine that the maker didn't issue Windows 7 drivers.

The beginners that install Windows are more likely than the seasoned ones to know about this issue. To make matters worse, I don't see step by step instructions for this.

My bet is "driver". Which one? I can't know as there are too many the installer could miss.

Random Sleeper
Dec 6, 2011 4:42AM PST

I had this random sleep problem for about two weeks. I discovered today that there is a magnetic switch about 5cm to the right of the trackpad which was being tripped by a magnetic bracelet I wear for arthritis problems. I guess the same could be caused by some kinds of wrist watch? Just a thought........

I would not have guessed without seeing the user and the bracelet.

YES!!! A nikken magnet bracelet, wow, who would have ever believed that! The problem started just when I started wearing one.
