Deleting unused screensavers

Nov 28, 2003 12:15AM PST

I have several unused screensavers that I downloaded in the past and I would like to delete them. The only place they show up is under display properties-screensavers. I am assuming that they take up room on the hard drive and would give me more space. Is there any way to delete them, or should I just leave them alone. I have a HP Pavillion 6630, Win98SE, 10.2GB (with about 1/2 used). Any suggestions? Thanks, and I hope everyone had a good Turkey Day! Tom...

If it's your desire to do so, then use the Find function to search for files with the extention of *.scr.

Thanks, Cursorcowboy. I was able to delete a couple of screensavers, but some I could not. However, I saw that I wasn't really saving any hard space, so, I gave up. At least, thanks to you, I found out how to go about doing it. You guys are always helpful and fast to respond. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!! Thanks again, Tom...

and Thanks.

No. You'd not save much drive space since they're pretty small.

When you can't delete something through the Windows environment simply delete from the MS-DOS mode -- Command prompt. Course you'll have to know where to go first and the names to get rid of.

Have you try ZDelete software to remove all the Internet History, Internet Cookies, Temporary files, etc.? They are the most reasons of taking up spaces on your hard disk.
