Hi,
I bought an HP laptop about 2 1/2 years ago (with Vista pre-installed). Like all HP laptops (I think) it has a recovery partition (D). The recovery partition was meant to help to repair Vista in case something went wrong and the computer didn't boot, but in the meantime I have repaired Vista last year or so with the original Vista disk which I purchased separately. After repairing it (they call it "upgrading", but it is actually "repairing"), the option to boot from the recovery partition disappeared when I press F8. So I think I should delete that partition altogether, as it takes up space of course. I have made a backup of that partition, although I am not sure I can make any use of it...
Anyway, I have read that sometimes even after you delete a partition some data remain (hidden) on the hard drive, so you don't really recover much space.
My question would be which is the safest method to delete a partition so that there are no problems and so that all the space is recovered too.
HP itself has an option in its Recovery Manager (different from the recovery partition, on the C drive) to delete the partition. Or I have read it can also be done from Control Panel - Administrative Tools.
Thanks for any advice...
Bo
