Deleting recurring appointments in Outlook 2000

I have a couple of recurring appointments in my calendar that I let run "forever" that I don't need anymore. Sometimes, for a particular occurance of the recurring appointment, I had moved the date and/or time and made an "exception" from the normal date/time the recurrance would occur.

I note this because I want to keep all past instances in my Calendar of these appointments. If I simply delete the appointment, I lose the past instances. If I change the recurrance to have an "end date", Outlook warns me that it will take all the past "exceptions" I made and revert them where they were supposed to normally recur.

Is there any way around this so I can get this done? Any help is much appreciated, thanks.
