deleting page numbers

Mar 14, 2010 4:14AM PDT

I have microsoft windows xp, word 2003. I have been working on a manuscript. I first put page numbers on the manuscript. I was preparing a manuscript for publication, so the page numbers were on the top of the page, 2 inches down. Now I am changing the page setup so that the page margins are 1 inch from the top. I deleted the old page number. But now the top two lines do not go all the way to the right margin. They stop at the place where the old page numbers were. How do I get this to stop? I want the margins of the top two lines to be the same as the rest of the manuscript. Thanks for your help.
