I recently reformatted my PC's hard drive. (A tech did the work.) Before doing it, I backed up my iTunes songs on a data DVD. After, I reinstalled iTunes and imported my songs. But now the CDs I burn only play on computers. Also, I used to burn my iTunes songs to CD and rip the disc to Media Player so I could download the songs to my MP3 player. Now I can't do that either.
I was told that at some point the tech or I was given the option of agreeing to applying "copyright protection" that would limit playback of iTunes songs to computers only, that we probably hit "yes" -- and that that was my problem. I tried to fix this by deleting iTunes, reinstalling it, and importing the songs again off the data DVD. This, however, did not fix the porblem.
It might be relevant that the song files on the data DVD indicate that they are "protected ACC files." How can I fix this problem to get back to being able (a) to burn iTunes CDs and play them anywhere and (b) to ripping the CDs onto Media Player and syncing the songs with my MP3 player?
