hello I have xp professional... i was going through my zipped files.. i like to keep my programs zipped along with a tiny text file with the serial number to the associated program all bundled up... well.. i just now deleted one of my programs accidently with the registration code ... see this is the problem.. i already installed the program... i just deleted the zip ...(install files w/ serial. ok is there a way to fetch the code real quick in my registry or just turn off my pc... will it be revived that way.... by the way I have no recycle bin... i dont believe in em... this is actually the first time in like five years that i have done such an idiotic thing.... the soft ware is AmericanShareware.. mp3converter3.0.. but i dont wanna have to email the company and ask for the code i was hoping there was a quicker way... Thankyou kindly

Slicktaco,

Actually, there is no standard at all for shareware programs about what to do with and where to store the registration code. It might be in the registry, and it might be somewhere else. It might even be shown on the screen if you try Help>Info or something like that.
You'd better ask the maker of this program if you can't find it yourself.
Of course, you will only need this registration code if you need to reinstall the program.

And let me add that people not believing in recycle bins should pay extra attention to their backup. It doesn't harm to burn this (apparently valuable) information to a cd, just in case you get an hard disk crash (or inadvertently delete the file, like you did now).

You are bordering on spamming.

This is the 3rd forum I have seen your post.

Windows XP, Computer Help and this forum.

Although not explicitly banned in the Forum Policies guide, it nevertheless confuses the people who are trying to help you and follow the threads of discussions and suggestions.

It is much better to restrict your question to one forum.

Good luck with your search for an answer.
