just recover the partition with the extra files from the procedure and delete them later when you know the partition is intact.
editing the partition sector of the drive should be all that is necessary. you may have to connect the drive to a Win9X/Me system to run the utility, and you may have to remove the drive from the enclosure and connect it to an IDE cable to do the editing.

When I was Installing Windows XP Pro, I made a mistake an told the installer to delete the partition of my 250GB Maxtor External USB 2.0 Drive, I didn?t formated it. Using a recovering program I saw that all the info is there, but is like 200GB or more, and not all of it is right (some previous deleted files appeared). Is there any way that my drive could get the FAT32 "image" partition back without formating the disk?
