If one reinstalls XP it overwrites the boot manager and you lose access to your working OS. My suggestion is to forget XP as it is only weeks till the end and it's unsure if MSFT will keep the registration servers running.
-> Go get EASYBCD to remove the XP boot option and then after you backup your system then you can remove/delete the XP home folder or partition.

I have a dual boot PC with XP 32 bit on part and Vista 64 on other half. Vista works good. I cannot even get into XP it just goes thru the motions and brings me back to boot screen.
Is there any way i can delete Xp while i am in vista? I would like to delete Xp and reinstall it over. I'm kinda a novice so help would be appreciated.
