scenario, you have the option of editing the Boot.ini file to control booting options. Be careful which install you edit out.
In solving a boot up problem, I have now two XP installed properly on just one harddish. Now, at boot up, I have a choice to choose to use which one. If I use the new one, I cannot use any software installed. If I use the old one, I can use the computer like before having the boot up problem. In both versions, I could see the files downloaded or saved.
Can I have your help in telling me how to delete the 'new XP'.
