Delete files but drive doesnt show it

Jul 7, 2006 4:10PM PDT

Hey all, I have a bit of an annoying problem. I have found when I move files from my primary C drive to my slave D drive via cut (from c) & paste (to d) that my c drive does show that space has been freed. THe same thing occurs when I delete a file to large for the recycle bin and it tells me it will just be permantly removed. I just deleted a 5gb folder and there has been no change in the amount of free space on my c. Ive done restarts, run system check on bootup and ran norton diagnostic tools. All of them say there is no problem! Thoughts? Any would be appreciated, thanks

Sorry for the double post, wanted to fix the title.

Norton protected files have been removed as well. C is the primary hdd and D is my slave hdd. Two physical drives. I check free space by opening My Computer and clicking on the hdd icon.

Volume Information

maybe the deleted files went to the "system volume informtaion" directory. its kinda a restore point stuff. its usually applications that go here. try running disk cleanup, goto more options tab, select clean up in the system restore part. it only deletes files a week old though. if it doesnt work, i'm sure you know this, view every single hidden file and folder, including system ones, goto c:, open the system volume information folder, and try to find the files you have deleted in the folders. be careful though, the files are renamed, and this will disble system restore for the time. tell me if it works.
