Delete a recurring appointment in Outlook?

Aug 27, 2004 12:31AM PDT

I have created a number of recurring (weekly) appointments in Outlook 2003 with no end date. When one of these appointments is cancelled for a certain week, I delete that single instance, so I have an accurate history of the appointment. Now some of these appointments are no longer relevant (permanently cancelled from here on), and I'd like to delete them, but it seems that there's no way to delete a recurring appointment without deleting the entire history of appointments.

Is this true? Am I stuck with choosing between deleting these continuing appointments week after week forever and losing their history entirely? Office help and Microsoft forums have been unhelpful to me in figuring this out.

Thanks!

I make an entry in the next 15 minute slot "cancelled" if need be to track such. That's my system, but may not be helpful to neatniks. Hope it helps.

To clarify: I want to cancel *all* future instances of the appointment. Unless I misunderstand, Outlook gives me only two choices: either "cancel" each of these future appointments one at a time, forever; or delete the entire history of the recurring appointment, as if it never happened. Is that right?

Seems you can edit the appointment and give it a new end date?

Try it.

PS. This is not very powerful calendaring. You will find it limited.
