defragmenting hard drive

Dec 20, 2003 1:53AM PST

I am running XP Home.
The legend in disk defragmenter show a red stripe for fragmented files.
After defragging the hard drive there is still a red stripe in the lower box showing usage after defragging. Does this mean some file didn't get defragged?

Some files or pgms are left right were they're suppose to as they're best left alone. While, what those are, expand on the legend for "details" or similar for an idea of what they. In my experience this is true for any windoze OS, expect some files/pgms remain at thier orginal sectors. -----Willy

If you see that the red lines have been reduced you have defraged at least a little bit that you know of, sometimes, personaly that happens to me. I wouldnt worry about it. Even when you defrag it might not help that much performance wise.
